You will need a passport from your own country (presumably Mexican) and your complete immigration documents (in this case your green card).

This is basically true everywhere in he world, with some exceptions. When you want to enter a foreign country, you'll need your own passport and the appropriate immigration documents (visas, etc).

Do not think that you'll be able to enter any country in the world without these two things. Some countries will waive the visa requirement for specific countries, but don't count on in.

No...the first answerer is not correct. He needs a Mexican passport as he is a Mexican citizen. A Mexican passport will NOT gain him entrance into the U.S. What he does need is his GREEN CARD...that is what will get him back into the U.S. If he leaves the U.S. without his green card, he will not be allowed back in. People have written in here in that position...they were actually shocked that the border guards would not just take their word for it. That green card is the most important "thing" an immigrant can possess. See site below and read info on "International travel."
