i am planning a 2nd trip to mexico. last time, i was stupid and went to cancĂșn. this time, i dont want more tourism and more beaches, i want to experience the real mexican culture, and really see mexico for what it is. i am fairly fluent in spanish, so communication wont be a big deal.
thanks for you answer, they both seem to be true mexican cities, but between oaxaca and tlaxcala, which is more beautiful?

As a Mexican myself, i recommend traveling to Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, or Yucatan to the Chitzen Itza, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Good luck on your second trip

I would suggest Cuernavaca because of the culture, history and climate. It’s called the city of eternal spring as the climate is so mild. In the city there is a museum which is housed in the Cortes Palace built by the conquistador Hernan Cortes. There are a lot of places to see within a day trip by bus from there as well. Taxco (for the silver mines and shops), Tepostlan which is a village close to the city and very Mexican, the Grutas (Caves) de Cacahuamilpa which is huge and very impressive and the Xochicalco Ruins. So, lots to do, lots to see and very Mexican! We loved it!

Mexico City is very nice, great museums and a good overall glimpse of the true culture. Depend on if you want city or village/town.

All the above answers are excellent choices . If you have time D,F and Cuenavaca are nice and cool for all day outings. Oxaca should not be missed, the ruins are nothing short of fabulous. All return bus fares are less $80.00usd
