We are going on a weekend vacation to Mexico. Our daughter wants to bring her best friend who is a daughter of a family we have been friends with for years. Do we need anything specific to take her into Mexico with us?

We all have passports. She has a birth certificate and a student ID from her school with her photo.

I’m pretty sure she needs a passport and I think there’s a form that needs to be filled out and signed by the girls parents saying it is okay to take her across the border.

You will need a written form of consent from the parents. Photocopy of their Id’s, and proper identification of the child. Also need passport and personal Identification.

Most important she will need a notarized letter from both parents she’s allowed to leave the country with you. If you guys are traveling by ground all you need is a birth certificate and an id, but if traveling by air she will need a passport.

If you are FLYING, she will need a passport. otherwise, she needs her birth certificate. YOU must have a letter signed by BOTH PARENTS and notarized giving you permission to take the child with you to Mexico. See website below and scroll down to section on “Minors”.
