I am moving to Condesa, Mexico City and was planning on bringing my washer/dryer/refrigerator (company pays shipping) since I heard that an unfurnished apartment here means no appliances. Is this correct? Is it a good idea to bring your own appliances? Also are the dryers there usually electric or gas?

Yes. Unfurnished apartment means no appliances.
If the company pays shipping and u like your fridge and wants to save some cash, then i recommend you to bring them to Mex City…
Otherwise, u have the option to buy your furniture over here. (Lots of stores offering high class appliances).
We have both, electric and gas dryers.

It means an EMPTY property. Nothing inside.
Most popular washer-dryers are gas.
Electricity is very expensive.
Best to you.

Nm, They are correct an unfurnished apartment will not have a washer/dryer or refrigerator. Just a stove and a sink. Also all electronics cost much more here than in the US so if you want a large TV or nice sound system or good refrigerator get them in the US and have them shipped. Also clothes, mattresses, box springs, sheets, mattress pads, plates, pots and pans are much more expensive with limited choices.
Basically since you company is paying, buy everything you think you will need including furniture and have it shipped here. It will save you a lot of money and you can get everything you like. I have found most imported items to cost almost double in Mexico City than in the US.

Chances are the apartment doesn’t even have a bed or anything (it will probably have an oven though). If the company pays for bringing everything over (which I’d say is really nice of ‘em because shipping is damn expensive) I’d do it. Bring as much stuff as you can while the offer is on.
We use gas stoves and washer/dryers work on gas. However, given how expensive the gas bills will pile up, if possible (given the monsoon.. err.. rainy season seems to have just started), try to air dry your clothes in a balcony or something. It rarely (if ever) rains during the morning in Mexico City. I haven’t relied on a dryer for years pretty well.
