Holiday in Mexico

I was told a while back that fireworks are perfectly legal in Mexico and bringing them into Mexico is no big deal. On one hand, this is a little hard to believe considering all the explosives/firearms being smuggled now, however it seems that they sell/use fireworks everywhere you go. If I were to bring them across and get caught with them, what would be the penalty? Not saying I’m going to do it, just curious.
