  1. I thinks that Los Cabos is really fun. However, the beaches there are not nearly as gorgeous as, say, in Cancun. The arch there, on the other hand, is very gorgeous. The atmosphere is fun in the city, and you will need to go to Cabo San Lucas to do most things (such as snorkeling trips, shopping, clubbing, etc.) Los Cabos is a pretty far drive from the airport (ok, like an hour or so if i remember correctly. Maybe a bit more) and the City of Cabo San Lucas (I think it’s about a half hour?). This is good in that it is away from the crowds, but the drive to the city gets repetitive if you’re doing it everyday on vacation!

  2. Kelly has a good answer above. Cabo is nice but the attraction is the beach and ocean, whale watching trips, for example. I think most people go to Cabo because it is sometimes cheaper for a resort/beach vacation from the West Coast than is Cancun.

The beaches are better in Cancun, the resorts just as good (if not better) and there is much more to do in Cancun. The clubs are more convenient, there are Maya ruins there, you can go to Isla Mujeres or to Cozumel from Cancun -or Mérida.

Cancun isn’t always more expensive. Right now there are a lot of deals for Cancun because tourism is down.

  3. Los Cabos means The Capes and that is the name of the airport.

The area has two towns San Jose de Cabo and 20km or so south Cabo San Lucas. Refer to the above aswerers for info on those towns. Cabo San Lucas is the more popular and more expensive of the two.
