My friend is on mail in probation for a DUI in another state and we are planning a vacation to Mexico. Will the probation show up on an airline background check and if so will they contact the probation officer?

Is that a chance your “friend” really wants to take?

Your friend needs to ask permission from his probation officer prior to going to Mexico. If he gives your friend permission, he has nothing to worry about. But if he goes without telling his probation officer, it could get your friend in hot water. What if your friend went to Mexico without asking his PO and his PO came to check on him and he was not there? Help your friend and Tell him to do the right thing.

No way. They have better things to do than that. Unless you are on their watch list and I hope that you are not that big of a threat. Also, the P.O. should be informed, because word gets around and it could mean a return to the slammer..

most likely no, but some good meaning person you or he knows most likely will. Or someone who gets mad at him next month, and so on.
If he wants to leave the state ( and part of his probation is to notify his PO) then you merely ask his permission to go and get it.
Sneaking around on a probation officer is the fastest way to be back in jail for the rest of the sentence.
