Good question, haven’t really thought about it. And I honestly don’t know.

Not sure. That’s probably what everyone is trying to figure out.

Theres a few ways to get this flu.
But some people believe terrorists attacked mexico giving them the virus.
The swine flu is now spreading around the world.
81 people have died in mexico.
but no one in the usa died of it. (20 people have been recorded so far of having it, - they all survived.)
Mexico was where the swine flu started.
why did people die in mexico but not the usa? -
well mexico has not good health care unlike the usa that has excellent health care.
The flu has appearently so far only spread to the usa but scientists believe it will spread to many other countries and states.

From pigs
Sometimes a virus normal for one species, like pigs, hops to another species, like humans. A mutation from a normal pig virus to a human virus.

Well just like people get sick with the flu so do some species of animals, pigs, ducks and birds can get the flu as well. A.k.a swine flu is a pig version of the flu that we human beings often get. Normally animal strains of the flu are not contagious for human beings. i.e. it only affects animals but like animals evolve so do virus’s and in this case this strain of swine flu has evolved and is capable of infecting human beings. The first people to catch the flu HAD to have been working with sick pigs (the meat cannot spread the flu only a live animal that is sick) and like we catch the flu from people, forgetting to wash your hands perhaps being in an enclosed space with the pigs and inhaling the germs. The thing that makes this strain of swine flu especially troubling is that it does not just pass from pig to human, but also from human to human.
SO one person or a few people catch it from some sick pigs, they then mull around in society spreading it to people. Who spread it to other people.
Avain and swine flu’s have been big worries for a number of years and if you look on international travel advisory sits there is often a section telling travelers to avoid farms, and live animal markets to try to help prevent the spread of bird or swine flu.

generally particular viruses unique to a species only affect that species. Viruses can mutate (change) quite often and sometimes the mutation will enable the virus to infect a different species than normal. This particular swine virus mutated (changed) in such a way as to make it transmissible to humans. Perhaps the recipient also had a very low immune system at the time. Patient zero caught it from a pig probably in much the same way as people get it from one another.
