Mexico already has done that job:

The FOBAPROA (Fondo Bancario de Protección al Ahorro or “Banking Fund for the Protection of Savings”) is a controversial fund created in Mexico in 1990 to attempt to resolve liquidity problems of the banking system in that country. The Fobaproa was applied in 1994 during the economic crisis to protect all Mexican banks from going bankrupt, and thus destroying the Mexican Economy.

Later, the IPAB came in (Instituto de Proteccion al Ahorro Bancario or “Bank Savings Protection Institute”). That measure prevented a colapse in the mexican economy, which believe it or not, in terms of macroeconomy is way, way better than the american.

The key is to incentivate consuming within the country. The Mexican government is subsidiasing gas, electricity, housing, the public health system and water consume. Instead of a bailout that it will most likely fail. Also, education from kindergarden to junior high is free. You only pay a low maintainence fee for the school.

You need to keep in mind that illegals come from several countries, not only from Mexico.

Because it won’t work.
Illegals go to USA because the publicity of the American dream by Hollywood. All people want to travel to USA because is a land of opportunities. People can be rich very soon, or poor but they don’t know. When people realize about the American situation, they go to Canada where if you work you win.
On the contrary, Mexico is a land of tricky opportunities. If you don’t play fair, maybe you win maybe not. But if you play fair maybe you die, maybe not.

well to be honest I agree with one answer here, the fact that if it was possible all the money would be dispersed between the DRUG LORDS and the CORRUPT government that is there. And since all the corruption is being shared also with high officials like the chiefs of police,generals of their armies,and the list goes on and on and on…….That does not mean that something like that does not happen here in our Country as well….example the first 750 billion dollars, Were did all really go?? Seems like it was pretty much thrown in the back burner huh?? And to Dirty Martini ,mizzholloywood,joebob,ozman641…it is our every right to express our opinions by all means, but be sure you are exactly correct about your facts and not just shooting your mouths out. And you wonder why other countries look at us as the WHITE DEVILS!?!?!?!? OR AMERICAN INFIDELS?!?!?!? It seems it is true what my uncles said to me when I was younger…”don’t blame your problems on others when you know it is your own fault” makes since..Proud to be an American people but let’s get our facts all straight before we start looking for an escape goat.

there is a real possibility that the mexican government could fall very soon. the drug lords run the country. cocaine is the stimulus there.

Because then the Mexican govt would have to invest in its own, as opposed to letting the US take care of the problem for them.

If there is a silver lining to this recession, it is that it has slowed down illegal immigration, particularly when looked at in conjunction with stepped up border security and immigration enforcement.

I wish that we didn’t have a recession, but I am glad for fewer illegal alien criminals entering the US.

why should they when they can send them to the U.S. and let the american tax payers support them. the ones that do work send most of the money they make back to mexico instead of putting it back into the american economy

Mexico’s government does not have that kind of money needed to accomplish anything close to that. Besides, if they did, corruption and greed of some officials would prevent a bailout from occurring.
