dazednconfused asked:

I have not flown since 9/11 and I am wondering what exactlly we have to do when we arrive at the airport when flying to Mexico? How early do we need to go to check in, and is it more of a search since we are flying there? Our flight leaves at 6:45am we were planning on being there around 5am, does that give enough time?

  2. They suggest that for an international flight that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to the flight. You want to give yourself plenty of time to get through customs and security and you wouldn’t want to miss the flight because you got stuck in a long line.
I would suggest that you visit the TSA website prior to traveling.

  3. We fly to Mexico yearly and usually give ourselves 2 hours. When you get off the plane in Mexico and your home airport you will stand in line at immigration to have your passport stamped. Don’t loose the immigration form you fill out on the plane! Depending on how many lines are open that can take a while. International flights tend to give a bit more scrutiny but i have to say the return flight will be tighter security. They spot check every checked and carry-on, sometimes twice. Actually peeking into each bag before boarding as well. We have never had a problem but allow plenty of time for this. Also, don’t stop for anyone when you are leaving the Mexico airport for your destination…they hawk timeshares like crazy.
